Grief Tending
Making Space for What We Carry
Grief is part of being human.
We grieve people and relationships, but also places, identities, dreams, expectations, ways of life, and things we never had the chance to experience. Some grief is obvious. Some is harder to name.
And much of the time, we are expected to carry it quietly—to keep functioning, keep moving, and return to ordinary life before something within us has had the chance to be witnessed.
Grief tending offers another possibility.
A space to slow down. To acknowledge what has been lost or changed. To listen to what grief may be asking of us. To be witnessed without needing to explain, fix, or move through it on anyone else's timeline.
Grief does not need to be solved. It needs somewhere to go.
A different way of being with grief
Grief is not a linear process, and it does not have a finish line.
We don't necessarily move through grief and leave it behind. We learn, over time, how to live alongside what has changed—making room for the feelings, memories, longings, and love that remain.
Grief tending is an invitation to do that with intention and care.
Rather than asking, How do I make this go away? we can ask, What happens when I make space for what I am carrying?
This work draws from the understanding that grief is not only personal. We are shaped by relationships, families, communities, cultures, places, and the living world. When something meaningful is lost or disrupted, having a place to be witnessed can matter deeply.
Grief tending might take many forms: a quiet ritual, a shared circle, reflective practices, time in nature, conversation, creative expression, or simply the experience of being present with others who understand that grief doesn't need to be explained away.
There is no prescribed way to grieve here. You are invited to come as you are, bring what you're carrying, and participate in whatever way feels right for you.
Sometimes what we need most is not advice or answers. We need presence. We need permission to feel. We need somewhere—and someone—with whom we don't have to carry it alone.
Stay connected
Grief tending can take many forms, and I’m allowing this part of Sacred Renewal to grow organically.
Upcoming offerings may include virtual and in-person grief circles, workshops, rituals, seasonal gatherings, and other spaces for tending grief in community.
If this work speaks to something you're carrying, I invite you to stay connected. New offerings will be shared here as they emerge, and subscribers to the Sacred Renewal newsletter will be among the first to hear about them.
